Rome, August 2025 – During the 24th International Congress on the Education of the Deaf, a landmark Joint Declaration was announced by leading Deaf organizations: the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD), the European Union of the Deaf (EUD), and the Italian National Association of the Deaf (ENS).
On 4th of August Migam’s CEO Przemek Kuśmierek signed the Global statement affirming that sign languages are full and natural human languages.
The declaration unequivocally rejects the resolutions of the infamous 1880 Milan Congress, which excluded sign languages from education systems worldwide. It calls for:

full legal recognition of national sign languages,

access to sign language from birth,
-
participation of Deaf people in shaping educational policies.
